1. Analyze Page 1: Felix Mendelssohn

(Song without Words n. 27 from pdf below: Write your analysis on the pdf in a manner similar to the examples from class notes 1-4. Clearly mark any and all motives, techniques employed to expand those motives, phrases, semi-phrases and periods. )




 

2. Write an Antecedent phrase for Clarinet with at least one motive that contains a retrograde or mirror inversion Make sure you clearly define your semi-cadence.

3. Write a contrasting consequent phrase to #2 above for Oboe. Make sure you clearly define your final cadence.

4. Write a modified parallel consequent phrase to #2 above also for Oboe. Make sure you clearly define your final cadence.

5. Combine 2 with 3 or 4 above and write a Parallel Double Period. Make sure you clearly define your cadences.

If you choose to have an accompaniment for 2,3,4 and 5 above, it can be for strings, or piano or guitar.
