ASME-sponsored 2nd Annual Trebuchet Competition
The Stevens student chapter of ASME hosted the 2nd Annual Trebuchet Competition on Wednesday April 8 on the Palmer Lawn. As an added twist, the thrown payload was an egg which couldn't break upon landing! With no cheating/designing beforehand allowed, how did our students design teams do given only 2 hours to design and build their device from scratch? More importantly, how did the All-Star team of professors do? Can we at least give them points for creativity? :)
You can see for yourself below! (click image for larger picture) Teams were scored based on the farthest of three throws, with a 50% reduction in distance if the egg payload broke upon landing. Congratuations to the following teams:
Special thanks to Patrick Alfonzo (ASME President) for organizing the event,
and to all those students and faculty who participated and cheered on the teams!
