Abstract

Completion of this robotics project is a Stevens Institute of Technology Design I course requirement. The objective of the project is to build and program an autonomous, PIC microcontroller-powered robot, programmed in C++ using the c2cpp compiler in the SourceBoost IDE, to compete head-to-head in an arena with obstacles and target lights. Graphics, including a robot logo, are produced using SolidWorks and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machining. Project planning was accomplished using a work breakdown structure and Gantt chart. Our team used behavior-oriented design concepts to design, fabricate, program, and test a robot. Dubbed Winston, this robot was entered in the end-of-semester competition. This project has developed our skills in several areas critical to engineering namely project management, working on a design team, programming, and testing.
