Dr. Donald N. Merino
Congratulations to Dr. Donald N. Merino for his appointment as the Alexander Crombie Humphreys Chair of Economics of Engineering, for five years, effective September 1, 2002.

Dr. Merino represents the essence of this chair and we are all very proud of this recognition for one of the Howe School leaders.

Background

Dr. Donald N. Merino is a tenured full Professor of Technology and Engineering Management at Stevens.   Prior to joining Stevens, Dr. Merino spent 25 years in industry in executive positions in Standard Brands, Exxon, Mobil and Celanese (Hoescht).  During his industrial career, Dr. Merino helped initiate the Quality Management Program at Celanese, developed the corporate technical plan and directed corporate new business activities.

  • 2000 and 1999 - The Bernard R. Sarchet Award - highest honor from ASEE/Eng Mgt Div.
  • 1999 - The Bernard R. Sarchet Award - highest honor from ASEM.
  • 1994 - Dr. Merino received two centennial awards from the American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE) in Engineering Management and Engineering Economy for Exceptional Contributions to EM and EE.
  • Harold R. Fee Alumni Award from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Dr. Merino is a past president and a fellow of the American Society of Engineering Management (ASEM).

Publications

Dr. Merino has co-authored with Hans J. Lang (Stevens Institute of Technology) a major text in Engineering Economics, "The Selection Process For Capital Projects", published by Wiley-InterScience, New York.
