Fascist Year Markings; Lots of markings on the bottom of the barrel base. |
This carbine was dug out in from a WWII german garrison, possibly manned by Italian soldiers from the Italian East Front Legion. .This gun may be the last remain of there presence, because I havent heard from other people obout Italian forces in the area. The gun lacks a stock, magazine and trigger guard. The gun is in excellent condition for a dug out relic. It is a bit corroded, but has more or less 50% of original blueing. The rifling seems to be abit corroded close to the muzzle and almost untouched beneath the chamber. |

Small, illegible cartouche next to larger Beretta Gardone cartouche. Smaller than a US Dime. |
Purchased at Dallas, Tx. Gun Show (Market Hall) about 1988. I liked the fact it was a Beretta and only 65 dollars. |

There are numerous noumbers and marks atamped on the barrel, bolt, cocking piece and trigger guard, most of which cant be read as they were poorly struck. Only ones really clear are the letters on top of the barrel showing mfgr.,on the underside of the barrel between rear sight and receiver is 2 and serial number on top of barrel between receiver and rear sight. |
On uderside of bolt handle base is EEL with horizontal lines above and below the letters. Almost touching the letters, almost looks like a small stretch of railroad track |
Rifle was new when my uncle brought it back from Europe for a souvenir for me in late 1945. Rifle is as received then and original. No stock cartouche anywhere, wood looks like birch. No cal. marked anywhere on it, not on or around rear sight, on stock or anywhere, appears to be 6.5. Gun is in very fine shape, no rust, and has all its original bluing. |
