My Grandfather 'aquired' this rifle, supposedly,
while his unit (US ARMY SIGNAL CORPS) was holed up in an Italian warehouse during WWII.
It was brand new out of the crate, and has not been fired to this day.

Half oval with UT and a Crown over RE on barrel.
The number 83 under the barrel (base).
Rear sight blade and base marked FP.
Strawed bolt and follower.
Under buttplate: FF and a strange, almost Chinese-looking elaborate part of a rectangular stockmarkers sign.
AB in oval on top of bolt handle base, 4 at back facet of bolt handle base.
This marks about the change from dated to undated Armaguerra Cremona rifles.
Rough stock finish, but apparently not a replacement.
Precise muzzle crowning as usual with this maker. Lacks cleaning rod.
.The half UT stamp is noteworthy; the missing upper half of the 4 I have seen frequently on other guns too.

Rifle is veteren bring back and is near new condition. I am surprised of its accuracy.
I recently fired some 1936 dated ammo. That was an experience.

Butt-plate has a very small circle with what apears to be a crown and the letters TN.
PL on bolt.
My father captured this rifle in battle during WW2 and sent it home (some time around 1942-1943).
Missing wood from barrel band to muzzle, otherwise in very good condition.
