About Us

Project Goal:

To integrate two separate solar energy collection technologies (photovoltaic and thermal) in order to increase PV efficiency while harnessing thermal energy that would otherwise be lost.

Stevens Institute of Technology has an ever-growing focus on green engineering, lowering the imprint we leave on society and decreasing the cost of electricity on campus.  The goal of this project is to create an integrated solar system combining a photovoltaic panel and a solar thermal system .  There are a small number of current systems using this integrated approach, but none have been perfected for efficiency and large scale applications.  Our design integrates the two separate solar energy collection technologies, photovoltaic and thermal, in order to increase PV efficiency while harnessing thermal energy that would otherwise be lost to the ambient environment.
