Abstract

The state of the art of FEM analysis of deep drawing and stretch drawing processes is reviewed. The section analysis approach is explained in detail including its applicability, hardware and software requirements, and prerequisites on resources such as time and operators. Special emphasis is put on its benefits for process and part designers in an industrial environment. The section analysis approach is applied to an automotive door panel and a round cup drawing. It is demonstrated that similarly accurate results as by full three-dimensional analysis can be achieved, but with much lower computer time requirements.
