Project Duration: June 1, 2000 - August 31, 2000

Project Summary: The project addresses the design optimization of a high-deflection vibration-isolation mount manufactured by Shock Tech, Inc. The project will deal with a variety of issues ranging from (i) identifying and carrying out reliable experimental test procedures for the determination of the static and dynamic materials parameters relevant for the subsequent modeling, (ii) establishing and verifying experimentally a reliable ANSYSTM simulation model for the static performance of the existing mount design, (iii) establishing and verifying experimentally a reliable MATLABTM simulation model for the dynamic performance of the existing mount design, (iv) devising design modifications for the current mount design to optimize its dynamic performance, and (iv) verifying experimentally the improved dynamical performance of the optimized mount design.
