I recently (August 2000) purchased this rifle because it was indicated that it was a Japanese Carcano rifle. Although it is sporterized with the stock recontoured and the bolt bent, it is is good condition with no other alterations. The finish is not very good in that a large portion of the blueing is gone, but there is no rust, the bore is in very good condition and the mechanical condition is fully functional. After looking at your site, I totally agree that the rifle is pretty well devoid of any markings. There is no crest, no dates, no stamped marks or any other identifying marks. I was mystified until seeing the rifle on this site. Thanks for helping me understand what I purchased. |
