COURSE DESCRIPTION
Environmental Chemistry of
Soils and Natural Surfaces (EN651)
Surface
chemistry principles applied in soils and natural solids; physical and chemical
properties of soil material surfaces; interactions of solutes including heavy
metals and organic pollutants with solid surfaces (adsorption and desorption).
Prerequisite
EN 570
Environmental Chemistry of
Atmospheric Processes (EN550)
An
introduction to the science underlying the description of atmospheric
processes and air pollution control, including: composition of atmosphere;
sources, transport, and fate of pollutants; chemical and photochemical
reactions; properties of aerosols, effects of air pollution on climate and
water; adsorption, absorption, filtration, and chemical destruction
pollutants in air pollution control systems.
